October 16, 2025 – Leapmotor today held the global debut of its flagship SUV, the Leapmotor D19, marking the official introduction of the brand’s largest and most advanced vehicle to date.
Positioned as a full-size luxury SUV, the D19 headlines Leapmotor’s new D-Series lineup and represents the brand’s most premium and technologically ambitious model yet.
Cutting-Edge Flagship Platform
Built on Leapmotor’s million-level flagship D platform, the D19 incorporates several world-first innovations, including a massive 80.3 kWh range-extension battery, a 1,000V pure-electric architecture, dual SA8797 chips, and a three-motor vector control system for precise handling and performance.
Design: Power Meets Precision
The front design follows the “Cosmic Horizon” concept, featuring a bold, balanced stance. It includes a wide powered front trunk, intelligent active grille, and three-section light bar paired with million-pixel DLP projection headlights. The ISD interactive light curtain contains 11,025 individual LEDs, giving the SUV a futuristic, high-tech appearance.
The D19 will be available in five body colors — Pine Valley Green, Photon White, Liquid Silver, Sky Gray, and Metallic Black — and boasts an imposing presence with dimensions of over 5.2 meters in length, nearly 2 meters in width, and a 3.1-meter wheelbase, delivering true full-size luxury SUV proportions.
Luxurious Smart Cabin
Inside, the D19 offers a multi-sensory luxury cabin with flagship amenities such as a “TV-fridge-sofa” setup, zero-gravity seats with a 120° recline angle, full-grain leather upholstery, and a spacious lounge-like layout.
It also debuts the industry’s first in-car oxygen generator, using automotive-grade vacuum pressure swing adsorption technology. With an output of up to 8L/min, it supports both diffuse and nasal oxygen delivery — useful for boosting alertness during commutes or alleviating altitude sickness on highland trips.
Industry-Leading Powertrain
The Leapmotor D19 will be offered in range-extended and pure-electric variants, both representing the pinnacle of the company’s technology.
The range-extended version features the world’s largest battery ever used in a hybrid — 80.3 kWh, delivering over 500 km of pure electric range, comparable to many all-electric models. It uses a unique “80 kWh battery + 40L fuel tank + 800V fast charging” energy system, allowing a 30%–80% charge in just 15 minutes.
The pure-electric version debuts CATL’s new Super Hybrid Cells, with 18.5% higher energy density and a 115 kWh battery, enabling a remarkable 720 km driving range — unmatched among full-size SUVs. With its 1,000V electrical system, a 15-minute charge can add more than 350 km of range.
Performance and Handling
The tri-motor pure-electric model delivers 540 kW of power and 8,770 N·m of wheel torque, achieving 0–100 km/h acceleration in under 3 seconds. The range-extended version offers 400 kW and 7,850 N·m, for a 0–100 km/h sprint in around 4 seconds.
The D19 features a dual-chamber closed air suspension with CDC damping, supported by an active preview system that provides a “magic carpet” ride experience. It also includes high-speed tire burst stability control for enhanced safety.
In a unique feat, the D19’s tri-motor layout enables a 3.6-meter turning radius, smaller than many compact cars. The LMC 2.0 chassis control system adds features such as automatic leveling, anti-motion-sickness mode, slip prevention on wet roads, cornering stability assist, and dynamic steering control.
Intelligence and Autonomy
Thanks to its in-house developed intelligent architecture, the D19 debuts dual SA8797 chips with a combined computing power of 1,280 TOPS, ensuring ample headroom for software upgrades over the next five years.
Its driver-assistance suite, powered by Leapmotor’s VLA World Model and integrated LiDAR and high-precision sensors, enables point-to-point full-scene navigation and comprehensive automated parking capabilities.
Market Position and Outlook
Although Leapmotor did not announce pricing at the debut event, previous statements indicate the D19 will target the RMB 300,000 (~USD 41,000) segment.
With its advanced technology, world-first range-extending system, and highly competitive pricing, the Leapmotor D19 is set to challenge established rivals such as the AITO M9, Li Auto L9, and NIO ES8, positioning itself as a potential dark horse in China’s full-size SUV market.
