After cumulative deliveries of 40,000 units, the AITO M6 long-range extended-range rear-wheel-drive version with a larger battery is reportedly set to go on sale.

Seres officially announced that the AITO M6 has delivered over 40,000 units cumulatively within 97 days of its launch. At this juncture, a blogger revealed that a rear-wheel-drive extended-range version with a larger battery is about to go on sale.

The current entry-level extended-range M6 comes with a 37 kWh battery and is all-wheel drive. For users in southern China, rear-wheel drive is far less essential than longer pure electric range.

According to the leaked details, the new model will feature a 53 kWh battery, with an expected CLTC pure electric range exceeding 400 kilometers. It will also add a new "Ice Crystal Pink" exterior color and a "Truffle Brown" interior option.

Data shows that in July, the AITO M6 sold only 5,428 units, declining for the second consecutive month with a significant month-on-month drop.

The reason, in my view, is partly due to the high pricing—the extended-range version starts at 259,800 yuan with only a 37 kWh battery, lacking a competitive edge against rivals.

On the other hand, it's about strategy. At the peak of its launch buzz, the 81 kWh rear-wheel-drive pure electric version (starting at 229,800 yuan) wasn't offered. Although it was quietly added in June, its impact was limited. Combined with competitors constantly releasing new models, sales naturally took a hit.

As for the price of this new large-battery rear-wheel-drive extended-range version, the current M6 Max+ all-wheel-drive model is priced at 259,800 yuan. The new model is expected to either match that price or drop to 249,800 yuan.

I personally think the latter is more likely. After all, the M6's sales performance has been mediocre, and the market competition is now incredibly fierce. Even AITO has to engage in close combat with rivals. If they maintain a lofty stance, releasing more new SKUs won't help much.
