Pure electric range up to 916 km! BMW's new i3 officially rolls off the line at the Munich plant.

According to media reports, BMW's core factory in Milbertshofen, Munich has officially launched mass production of the all-new pure electric i3. As the first sedan under the Neue Klasse architecture, the new i3 marks a new phase in BMW's electrification strategy. After four years of renovation, the factory has commenced production and is expected to produce only pure electric models from 2027. It is reported that the i3 50 xDrive launched in the initial production phase is equipped with dual front and rear electric motors, delivering a combined system output of 345kW (approximately 469 horsepower), paired with a 109kWh high-voltage battery, and offering a WLTP range of up to 916 kilometers. The First Edition of the BMW i3 50 xDrive is now open for ordering at a price of 75,340 euros (approximately 585,000 RMB). BMW also plans to launch a standard version in September with a starting price of around 65,000 euros. It is understood that the Munich factory has been producing the 3 Series since 1975, with cumulative production exceeding 9 million vehicles. During the four-year production line renovation, the factory maintained a regular production pace of 1,000 vehicles per day. By optimizing production line layout and enhancing automation levels, BMW expects to reduce per-vehicle manufacturing costs by 10%. By 2027, the factory will be fully transformed into a pure electric production base.
