China's auto exports are surging! Single-month exports hit 1.09 million vehicles: soaring 57% year-on-year

Recently, according to a post by Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), China exported 6.4 million vehicles from January to July 2026, a year-on-year surge of 54%, far surpassing the levels of the same period in previous years. Of these, July exports reached 1.092 million vehicles, up 57% year-on-year and 2% month-on-month.
In terms of export value, the total automobile export value from January to July reached $110.8 billion, approximately RMB 748.972 billion at the current exchange rate, a year-on-year increase of 55%.
In July, complete vehicle exports totaled $19 billion, approximately RMB 128.434 billion, up 60% year-on-year and 4% month-on-month, breaking the pattern from 2023 to 2025 where July export values were slightly lower than May, demonstrating a counter-trend upward momentum.
Data from the General Administration of Customs shows that from January to June 2026, China's total merchandise trade exports reached $2,125.8 billion, up 17% year-on-year, of which complete vehicle exports reached $91.8 billion, a substantial year-on-year increase of 54%.
In the first half of the year, automobile exports reached RMB 635.82 billion, up 48.3% year-on-year, sold to more than 210 countries and regions worldwide.
New energy vehicle exports reached RMB 360.68 billion, up 68.7% year-on-year. From January to May, NEV export volume grew 78.5% year-on-year, accounting for 71.6% of total vehicle exports.
The average export price of Chinese new energy vehicles has reached $29,800, exceeding $40,000 in high-end European and American markets, with high unit prices building a foundation for profitability.
In terms of parts exports, the total from January to July reached $60.7 billion, approximately RMB 410.312 billion, up 8% year-on-year, with the growth rate recovering compared to the first half of 2025.
In July, monthly auto parts exports reached $9.38 billion, approximately RMB 63.406 billion, up 14% year-on-year but down 4% month-on-month, showing a stable trend after the high growth in June. With the significant expansion of complete vehicle exports, external demand for supporting parts has rebounded in tandem, with steady production and sales performance from June to July.
