Benchmarking against the Porsche Taycan! Mercedes-AMG GT53 four-door coupe unveiled: adds 534km of range in just 10 minutes of charging.

Recently, the new entry-level model GT53 of the Mercedes-AMG GT four-door coupe made its official debut.

The new car is positioned below the GT55 and GT63, built on the AMG.EA pure electric platform, equipped with a dual-motor system, with a starting price of 115,430 euros in the German market, approximately 900,000 yuan, and is expected to be officially launched in early 2027.

In terms of power, the GT53 adopts a dual-motor layout with one permanent magnet synchronous motor on each of the front and rear axles, a change from the three-motor axial flux system found in the GT55 and GT63. The combined peak power is 536Ps, peak torque is 800N·m, with a sustained output of 362Ps; peak power is mainly used for short-duration performance release.

The official estimated 0-96km/h acceleration time is 3.8 seconds, and 3.4 seconds using the 0.3-meter rolling start timing method, with the top speed electronically limited to 230km/h. The two motors support independent control and can switch between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive based on driving needs.

For comparison, the GT55's three-motor system delivers a combined 805 horsepower and 1800N·m peak torque, with a 0-100km/h acceleration of 2.4 seconds; the GT63 delivers a combined 1153 horsepower and 2000N·m peak torque, with a 0-100km/h acceleration of 2.0 seconds. Both models have an electronically limited top speed of 300km/h.

In terms of range, the GT53 actually shows a stronger advantage. The new car is equipped with a 106kWh battery pack, adopts an 800V high-voltage architecture, and the cylindrical cells feature direct oil cooling technology. The WLTP cycle range can reach up to 809 kilometers, surpassing other models in the same series.

In terms of charging, it supports up to 600kW charging power, and can replenish from 10% to 80% in only about 11 minutes, adding approximately 534 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes.

In terms of exterior design, the GT53 generally continues the design language of the second-generation AMG GT four-door coupe, adopting a five-door fastback layout that balances sportiness and practicality.

Compared to the high-performance versions, the GT53 has reduced power specifications, but it still retains the AMG family design elements and the sporty atmosphere of high-performance models.

Notably, to preserve the driving atmosphere of traditional AMG models, the GT53 incorporates a simulated sound system. The vehicle collects and reproduces the sound of a real inline-six engine through 16 microphones inside and outside the car, differing from the simulated V8 sound in the higher-spec models.

Meanwhile, combined with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel to simulate shift feedback, in Sport+ mode, drivers can experience simulated engine sound and shift actions, enhancing driving engagement. It is positioned to compete with the entry-level all-wheel-drive version of the Porsche Taycan.

It is reported that the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT four-door coupe will first hit overseas markets as the GT55 model later this year, with the GT63 and the all-new GT53 expected to be officially launched in early 2027.
