Li Auto’s New Li i6 Electric SUV Receives Over 20,000 Orders Within Hours of Launch

Chinese EV maker Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) has seen a strong market response to its latest electric SUV, the Li i6, with more than 20,000 firm orders placed within just hours of its debut, according to a report by local media outlet LatePost.

The Li i6, launched roughly five hours ago, marks the company’s second all-electric SUV, following the larger Li i8. The new model is positioned as a more compact and affordable option in Li Auto’s growing electric lineup.

Launch Details and Pricing

The Li i6 is available in a single trim level starting at RMB 249,800 (approximately $35,010). For early buyers, Li Auto is offering a limited-time incentive package worth RMB 35,000 through October 31, which includes:

  • RMB 10,000 cash discount,
  • Air suspension system valued at RMB 15,000,
  • Built-in car refrigerator valued at RMB 5,000,
  • Quiet electric doors valued at RMB 5,000.

After applying the cash discount, the effective starting price drops to RMB 239,800.

Customer Demand Surges

The vehicle’s launch triggered unexpected crowds at Li Auto showrooms across several major cities.

At around 7:30 pm Beijing time on Friday, a sales manager at a Shanghai store told LatePost he was so busy that he couldn’t respond to messages on WeChat. In Shenzhen, another salesperson predicted that test drive sessions could run until 11 pm or even midnight due to overwhelming interest.

Li Auto confirmed that display and test-drive units are now available at its retail stores, with deliveries beginning as early as tomorrow.

Order Policies

Customers placing firm orders have a 7-day window to adjust configurations or request a refund. After this period, deposits become non-refundable, in line with Li Auto’s standard policy.

Product Specifications

The Li i6 is 4,950 mm long, making it slightly more compact than the six-seat Li i8. It will be offered in both single-motor and dual-motor variants, delivering a CLTC range of up to 720 kilometers on a single charge.

Market Outlook

The strong early demand suggests that the Li i6 could become a key growth driver for Li Auto as it continues expanding its pure-electric product portfolio. The company is aiming to capture a broader consumer base by offering a balance of affordable pricing, long driving range, and premium features.
