September 23 News – According to a recent report from market research firm CounterPoint Research, global smartphone sales increased 5% year-over-year in Q2 2025. Google’s Android led with a 79% market share, Apple’s iOS held 17%, and Huawei’s HarmonyOS accounted for 4%.

While Android maintained its global lead with 79%, this represents its lowest Q2 share on record. The firm attributes the decline primarily to intensified competition in the Chinese market and premiumization trends in the Indian market.
Globally, iOS performed well in several key markets including India, the Middle East, and Brazil, regaining 1 percentage point of market share. iOS also maintained strong growth in its largest markets – the United States and China.
HarmonyOS continued its growth trajectory in China, surpassing iOS for the sixth consecutive quarter and firmly establishing itself as the country’s second-largest mobile operating system. The report highlights the significant contribution of Huawei’s Nova series and the positive reception of the Pura X foldable phone in maintaining the brand’s competitiveness.
