September 22 News – NIO announced this evening the expected delivery timeline for its new ES8 model.
The company stated that order lock-ins for the new ES8 have exceeded expectations and provided the following details regarding vehicle delivery arrangements:
To address customer concerns about pickup timing, expected delivery dates will be displayed by 8:00 AM on September 23. Customers can check their estimated pickup time through the NIO App by accessing the “My Car” section.
The estimated pickup time will be automatically calculated based on order lock-in time and selected configurations. The delivery window has been refined from a monthly estimate to a more precise two-week range.
This more accurate timeframe will help customers better plan financial arrangements, used car replacements, and other purchase-related matters, ensuring a smoother subsequent process.
During the initial production ramp-up phase for the new ES8, NIO is matching existing vehicle configurations with locked orders. Orders that exactly match available configurations will be scheduled for delivery according to the sequence of order lock-in times.
Acknowledging that some customers may face extended waiting periods and potential risks related to changes in purchase tax amounts for cross-year deliveries, NIO released a “Worry-Free Lock-In Plan” for the new ES8 on September 21:
- For delivery delays exceeding 8 weeks due to NIO’s reasons, customers will receive 500 points per day from the 57th day after order lock-in until the vehicle arrives at the delivery center, issued after vehicle pickup.
- For orders locked in 2025 but requiring invoice issuance and delivery in 2026 due to NIO’s reasons, customers can use a purchase tax difference subsidy voucher to offset the vehicle price, ensuring no additional costs arise from changes in purchase tax policies.
Through collaborative efforts with partners, NIO has increased the annual production capacity for the new ES8 to 40,000 units, with monthly production reaching 15,000 vehicles by December. Despite these production increases, the company apologetically notes that many customers will still need to wait for their vehicle deliveries.
