Mercedes-Benz launches new Marco Polo camper van: roof can be raised, built-in refrigerator and kitchen

according to media coverage, Mercedes-Benz has officially launched the new Marco Polo camper van, with the key upgrade being a newly liftable roof featuring a double-layer aluminum shell, increasing rear headroom by 100 millimeters to 370 millimeters.

The interior of the roof can be optionally equipped with LED ambient lighting, along with a sliding roof and panoramic opening options, allowing occupants to enjoy an unobstructed view of the night sky after opening the roof.

At the same time, the redesigned awning has been changed to a detachable structure. After the camping trip, owners can directly remove the awning, making the Marco Polo more closely resemble a standard van for daily use.

Inside the vehicle, new quick-release magnetic curtains have been added, and the audio system features 8 speakers and a subwoofer, supporting independent Bluetooth playback.

The new vehicle is also equipped with an upgraded Mercedes-Benz Advanced Control system, drawer slides, a folding table, and a rear seat control panel. The front seats can be rotated rearward, and the rear bench seat can be folded down to form a bed.

The 40-liter refrigerator has 25% improved energy efficiency compared to the current model, and the vehicle also features a small kitchen with a gas stove and sink.

In terms of powertrain, the Marco Polo offers three four-cylinder diesel engines. The entry-level version delivers a maximum power of 120kW and peak torque of 380N·m; the 250 d outputs 140kW and 440N·m; and the top-end 300 d achieves 174kW and 500N·m for maximum power and peak torque, respectively.

All three engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, with options for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The top-end variant can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in as fast as 8.8 seconds.

The new Marco Polo will open for orders in Europe on August 5, with pricing yet to be announced. For reference, the starting price for the current model in Germany is 80,664 euros.
