Apple's new device leasing plan reportedly launching in the US tomorrow: covering iPhone, Mac and multiple other products.

according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman's disclosure yesterday, Apple's new "Apple Upgrade" device rental plan will be launched in the United States tomorrow (July 28).

According to the introduction, Apple will stop accepting registrations for the "iPhone Upgrade Program" tomorrow, though users already enrolled can continue using it temporarily.

At the same time, Apple will partner with financial institution Klarna to launch a new device rental plan, allowing users to rent various iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch models.

Among them, the rental period for iPhone and Apple Watch is 2 years, while for Mac and iPad it is 3 years. Users pay a small monthly fee and can use the devices with full functionality during the rental period, without needing to pay the full device price upfront.

Once a rental contract falls into arrears, Apple's cloud system service can remotely switch iPhones, Macs, and other devices directly into a restricted mode.

In this mode, the system will directly prevent users from accessing most locally installed applications, and the device's core functions will essentially be paralyzed. Only after the user pays the overdue fees and resolves the contract issues will all original device functions automatically return to normal.

After the rental period ends, users can choose to return the device, upgrade to a new device, or pay to keep the current device.

However, budget products such as the Apple Watch SE, standard iPad, iPhone 16, and MacBook Neo are not expected to be included in the rental plan.

Notably, Apple plans to market this plan as "cheaper than installment payments."

Therefore, Apple Upgrade appears to focus more on device rental rather than traditional installment purchasing. In the future, this plan may replace the previous iPhone Upgrade Program.
