Huawei Mate 90 is poised for launch: Kirin 9030 + HarmonyOS 7, the most powerful standard edition from Huawei.

The domestic smartphone market report card for the first half of 2026 has just been released, with the Huawei Mate 80 clinching the top spot in domestic single-model sales, continuing the Mate series' hot-selling legacy. And while consumers are still paying for the Mate 80, the next-generation flagship Mate 90 series is already ready to launch, with just about a month left until its release.
According to information from digital blogger Chaoweijie, the Mate 90 series will adopt a "tiered strategy" in chip configuration: the standard edition will feature the Kirin 9030 chip, while the Pro series will debut a new-generation Kirin chip built on the Tao's Law.
Among them, the Kirin 9030 adopts an 8-core architecture, consisting of 1 2.70GHz super-large core, 3 2.27GHz large cores, and 4 1.7GHz small cores; the Kirin 9030 Pro upgrades to a 9-core design, adding one large core on top of the standard version, with the super-large core frequency also boosted to 2.75GHz for more aggressive performance output.
Beyond the chip upgrade, the Mate 90 standard edition will also add 3D facial recognition, filling the gap in biometric authentication left by the previous generation. And the HarmonyOS 7 operating system pre-installed across the entire lineup is the very soul of this flagship. At the Huawei Developer Conference, HarmonyOS 7 was officially upgraded to the HarmonyOS Intelligent Agent Framework 2.0, with a success rate of over 90% for complex tasks.
The most anticipated feature is the fully evolved Xiaoyi assistant. It is no longer a simple voice response tool, but possesses the ability to understand intent, plan autonomously, invoke the system, and collaborate with multiple agents to complete tasks.
For example, you just need to say to Xiaoyi, "I'm planning to run the Chuxiong Half Marathon next week, help me create a recovery training plan and add it to my schedule," and it can automatically generate a personalized training plan based on the race schedule, personal health data, and historical training records, syncing it to the calendar without any manual operation needed throughout.
The smartphone market in September is bound to be lively. Whether the Mate 90 can sustain the explosive momentum of its predecessors, and what surprises the new Kirin chip will bring, the answers will soon be revealed.
