Geely Automobile: Li Shufu Resigns as Chairman of the Board and Executive Director

On August 17, Geely Automobile Holdings Limited issued an announcement regarding adjustments to its management team.
According to the announcement, effective August 18, 2026, Li Shufu will resign as Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Geely Automobile Holdings Limited.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the company's development over the years, he has been appointed as Lifetime Honorary Chairman of the company.
As the company's principal and controlling shareholder, he will continue to fully support the company's long-term development. Li Shufu will remain Chairman of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
Additionally, Geely Automobile announced several other personnel changes: Li Donghui will resign as Vice Chairman of the Board of Geely Automobile Holdings Limited but will continue to serve as an Executive Director of the company.
Gui Shengyue will resign as Chief Executive Officer of Geely Automobile Holdings Limited and will be appointed Vice Chairman of the Board, continuing to serve as an Executive Director to enhance communication and coordination efficiency between the Board and management.
Gan Jiayue has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Geely Automobile Holdings Limited, responsible for the company's daily operations. Leveraging his extensive management experience and industry expertise, he will drive the implementation of the company's long-term strategic goals.
Public records show that Geely Group was established in 1996; in 1997, it formally entered the automotive industry, becoming China's first private car manufacturer.
In 1998, the Linhai production base rolled out Geely's first model, the Haoqing hatchback. In 2001, Geely obtained the national car production qualification.
In 2003, the parent company, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd., was established, and overseas export of sedans began the same year.
In May 2005, Geely was listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange; on July 8 of the same year, the former Hong Kong-listed company Guorun Holdings was renamed Geely Automobile Holdings Limited, with a new Board of Directors elected, and Li Shufu assumed the roles of Chairman of the Board and Executive Director.
Over the following 21 years, Geely Automobile's annual reports consistently recorded this position in the director list, until this resignation.
