China's monthly auto exports surpass one million vehicles! CheBaiHui: Avoid clustering, avoid involution, and refrain from vicious price wars.

Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows that from January to July 2026, China's automobile exports reached 6.14 million units, a year-on-year increase of 66.8%.

Exports continued to grow at a rapid pace in July, with monthly export volumes exceeding one million units for two consecutive months, and new energy vehicle exports accounting for over 50% for two consecutive months. Industry insiders generally expect that automobile exports are likely to surpass the 10 million unit mark this year.

At the 2026 New Energy Vehicle Global Cooperation and Development Forum, Zhang Yongwei, Chairman of the Board of the China EV100 Research Institute and Chief Expert of China EV100 International, stated that the window of opportunity for Chinese automakers to go global will not last long. The rush to expand overseas to seize this window has also given rise to some disorder.

He called on companies not to cluster in the same markets when going global, to avoid depleting and devaluing the value of Chinese enterprises, and especially to refrain from vicious competition in the same regions.

Zhang Yongwei emphasized that collaborative international expansion should become a hard constraint, not just a recommendation. This responsibility must be translated into binding rules: no clustering, no cutthroat competition, no vicious price wars in the same market, and a commitment to greater collaboration and joint market development.

At the same time, companies should take root locally, implement localized operations, contribute to local employment and tax revenue, and strive to be "good local corporate citizens." Every vehicle is a calling card of Chinese manufacturing—misconduct by one company affects not just itself, but the entire Chinese automobile industry.

Additionally, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association, released data today based on General Administration of Customs figures, showing that China's automobile exports from January to July 2026 reached $110.8 billion (approximately 746.554 billion yuan), a year-on-year increase of 55%.

Among this, July alone saw automobile exports of $19 billion (approximately 128.019 billion yuan), up 60% year-on-year. Looking at annual trends, China's automobile exports have shown explosive growth. In 2021, annual automobile exports were only $34.5 billion, jumping to $117.4 billion in 2024, and reaching $142.4 billion in 2025.

Based on current monthly trends, full-year automobile exports in 2026 are projected to exceed $210.8 billion, an increase of more than 550% compared to 2021.

By category, passenger vehicle exports in July reached $15.3 billion, up 71% year-on-year; electric passenger vehicle exports in July reached $11.3 billion, up 92% year-on-year, becoming the core engine of export growth.
