The more the US blocks China, the stronger its AI becomes! Moonshot AI reportedly begins training Kimi K4: larger scale than K3

According to reports, Chinese AI unicorn Moonshot AI is planning its next-generation large model, Kimi K4, which will be significantly larger than Kimi K3. The release of K3 previously caused shockwaves in the global AI community and was seen as a landmark event of Chinese AI catching up with American AI.
This has directly drawn high attention from the US side, and within the US government, there is an ongoing assessment of whether to include Kimi K3 on the export control list. Last week, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Kratsios publicly accused Moonshot AI of developing K3 by distilling American models, and claimed that it obtained servers equipped with GB300 chips in violation of regulations.
However, this accusation is clearly inconsistent with the facts. Public information shows that Kimi K3 did not distill or replicate existing models. Multiple authoritative benchmark tests have also verified this judgment. In the tests, Kimi K3 achieved levels close to GPT-5.6 Sol and Claude Fable 5, and its front-end coding capability directly topped the rankings.
It should be noted that less than two weeks after the release of K3, Moonshot AI has already started training K4. This indicates that the harsher the US chip blockade against China, the faster Chinese AI catches up. Chip bans can limit access to computing power, but they cannot limit a team's determination to catch up with the frontier.
