Europe continues to experience extreme high temperatures, with Midea adding 200,000 air conditioner orders in Europe in just one month.

This summer, many European countries have experienced extreme heat, with temperatures exceeding 40°C in multiple locations across France, Germany, and Spain. Local cooling equipment supplies have been unable to keep up with surging demand, leading to a significant increase in orders for Chinese-made air conditioners.

Midea Group stated on its investor interaction platform: Due to the persistent extreme heat in Europe, demand for air conditioning has surged. Midea's two bases in Wuhu and Guangzhou received a total of 200,000 new orders from Europe in just one month.

Air conditioning penetration in Europe is traditionally low. Installing wall-mounted split units in old apartments requires complicated procedures—wall drilling permits, lengthy approval processes, and installation labor costs that can exceed the price of the unit itself. This makes it difficult for ordinary households to afford traditional split air conditioners.

Midea's PortaSplit mobile split air conditioner addresses these pain points: no wall drilling required, users can easily connect the pipes themselves, and the unit can be taken along when moving. It has become particularly popular locally.

Order volumes for this mobile split air conditioner have been steadily rising since June, with cumulative new orders exceeding 160,000 units. France recently urgently ordered an additional 30,000 mobile air conditioners, of which 20,000 have already been loaded and shipped to high-temperature areas to help relieve cooling needs for residents.

Midea is not alone—the entire domestic home appliance industry is accelerating supply. Previously, the Pearl River Delta region shipped 100,000 portable air conditioners via China-Europe Railway Express, saving nearly 20 days in transport time compared to sea freight and costing far less than air freight. Large quantities of cooling equipment are continuously being delivered to European countries. Factories are also ramping up production capacity, working overtime on orders to shorten delivery cycles as much as possible.

In previous years, Europe rarely purchased cooling appliances on a large scale. This year's extreme heat has directly reshaped market demand. With local production lines lacking mature cooling equipment manufacturing capabilities, Europe can only rely on imports to fill the gap. Domestic home appliance brands, with their complete industrial chains, have seized this market opportunity.
