Huawei 5G Phones Make Overseas Comeback: Foreign Huawei Fans Show Off Decade-Long Collections at Launch Event, Overwhelmed with Excitement

Recently, Huawei Terminal BG CEO He Gang shared a heartwarming behind-the-scenes moment from the Kuwait launch event. At the local Huawei Pura 90s launch event, Ahmed, a long-time Huawei user of ten years, brought out 23 Huawei devices from his personal collection that he had treasured over the years, drawing a crowd of on-site staff and attending media.

The 23 Huawei devices in Ahmed's collection were by no means a simple pile of scattered old phones; they formed a condensed physical chronicle of Huawei's market development in the Middle East region.

From the first-generation Mate series that first captured local consumers' attention, to the latest Pura series new products, every phone clearly recorded the technological breakthroughs and product design evolution at different stages of Huawei's development.

Among the collection was also a landmark product of special significance to Huawei users worldwide — the Mate 20 X (5G), Huawei's first officially launched 5G phone. This alone showed just how familiar this long-time Kuwaiti user was with Huawei's full product lineup, and how unwavering his support had been over the years.

According to reports from attending media, Ahmed had come to the launch event specially carrying a bag full of his treasured old phones, showing each one to the Huawei staff on site and sharing the stories behind his collection. Many industry media professionals with years of experience were stunned when they saw the full ten-year product lineup laid out in sequence.

These devices covered nearly all of Huawei's flagship product lines from the past decade, from the early first-generation Mate series that helped build Huawei's reputation in the Middle East consumer electronics market, to the new Pura series that had achieved successive technological breakthroughs in imaging and foldable screens in recent years. Each device's regional launch corresponded to an important strategic deployment by Huawei in Kuwait and the broader Middle East market.

In July of this year, Huawei officially released the Pura 90s series to the international market, with the lineup including two differently positioned models: Pro and Pro Max.

It is worth noting that the new devices launched overseas natively support 5G communication, marking the official return of 5G functionality to Huawei's flagship models sold in the international market after many years.

Many long-time users are well aware that Huawei was subjected to unreasonable sanctions by the U.S. government back in 2019, which for a long time afterward prevented Huawei from normally producing and selling flagship phones with 5G capabilities.

Previously, the last generation of Huawei flagship phones released globally with explicit 5G support was the Mate 40 series, which made its worldwide debut in October 2020. Subsequent flagship models such as the Mate 50 and P60 series did not support 5G communication in their overseas versions.

The return of 5G functionality to the international models also means that Huawei's overseas flagship product line has finally regained the core communication capability that consumers had been waiting years for.
