Drum brakes become history! FAW-Volkswagen ID. AURA T6 opens blind ordering: pure electric power + domestic smart driving

Last night, FAW-Volkswagen's all-new all-electric midsize SUV, the ID. AURA T6, officially began blind ordering, with a 99 yuan deposit redeemable for a 2,000 yuan discount on the vehicle purchase.

The vehicle is built on the全新的 CEA electronic and electrical architecture, completely eliminating the rear drum brake design found on older ID series models. It comes standard with front and rear disc brakes + Bosch IPB 2.0 braking system, addressing the braking shortcomings that have long been criticized by consumers. It also features a localized, domestically-produced high-level intelligent driving solution, making it a smart electric transformation model tailored by Volkswagen specifically for the Chinese market.

The ID. AURA T6 adopts a completely new design style, featuring a through-type light cluster with an illuminated logo to highlight its electric vehicle identity. It also offers a 90L front trunk to enhance overall cargo capacity.

In terms of body dimensions, its length, width, and height are 4811/1879/1648mm, with a wheelbase of 2836mm, positioning it as a midsize SUV. It offers 19-inch and 20-inch wheel options.

The interior also features localized innovation. The front row is equipped with a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster + a 15.6-inch floating central control screen + a 25.8-inch AR-HUD, along with a 4nm intelligent cockpit chip (computing power approximately 20TOPS). It also supports wireless CarPlay, Hicar, and Carlink phone connectivity, claiming to have the smoothest infotainment system in Volkswagen's history.

At the intelligence level, it fully adopts a domestic self-developed solution, featuring the Horizon Robotics joint venture Carcore's Cloud Intelligence System. It offers an optional 192-line roof-mounted LiDAR, paired with the Horizon Robotics Journey 6H intelligent driving chip with 420TOPS computing power, fully supporting highway NOA and urban full-scenario navigation assist, with dedicated algorithm optimization for complex domestic road conditions.

The braking system and chassis are the main upgrade highlights this time. Previously, multiple Volkswagen ID series models had rear drum brakes, which suffered from poor brake heat dissipation and limited ultimate performance, and had been widely criticized. The ID. AURA T6 comes standard with four-wheel disc brakes, along with a front strut bar and 255/265mm wide tires to enhance driving stability.

In addition, the vehicle body adopts a steel-aluminum hybrid cage structure, with over 80% ultra-high-strength steel and key areas equipped with 2000 MPa hot-formed steel. The safety rating reaches C-NCAP five-star and C-IASI all-good.

The new car is pure electric with a single motor rated at 170 kW, paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery. The CLTC pure electric range is 550 km and 620 km, supported by an 800V high-voltage fast charging platform, allowing a 10-minute fast charge to replenish 300 km of range.
