JD Airlines has officially entered the wide-body cargo aircraft era with the delivery of its first Airbus A330-200P2F freighter, marking a significant milestone in the company’s strategic expansion of global air cargo capabilities.
According to JD.com, the newly delivered A330-200P2F has a maximum takeoff weight of 233 metric tons and a maximum payload capacity of approximately 61 metric tons. Its cargo hold offers a total volume of 453 cubic meters and features a fully electric main-deck cargo loading system, enabling efficient handling of standard aviation pallets and a wide variety of cargo types.
Compared to medium narrow-body freighters, the A330 provides significantly greater range and payload capacity, making it well-suited for intercontinental freight operations across diverse logistics scenarios—from high-value goods and e-commerce parcels to electronics, bulk commodities, and temperature-sensitive perishables.
Following its arrival at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, the aircraft will undergo a series of operational readiness procedures, including airworthiness inspections, maintenance preparations, and crew training, to ensure safe and reliable entry into commercial service.
The Airbus A330 freighter family has gained strong traction in the international air cargo market in recent years, thanks to its flexible cargo configuration and operational versatility. It has played a key role in connecting Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East, supporting a broad spectrum of air freight demands.
As e-commerce continues to surge globally and consumers increasingly expect faster delivery times, the strategic importance of air logistics has never been greater. In response, JD Airlines has been steadily expanding its international route network, enhancing cross-regional delivery speed through stable air capacity and seamless integration with its warehousing and ground logistics infrastructure.
To date, JD Airlines operates international cargo routes to South Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, and other key markets, providing robust support for the rapid growth of cross-border e-commerce.
The introduction of the A330-200P2F is expected to significantly strengthen JD Airlines’ capabilities in handling heavy-lift and long-haul cargo missions, further solidifying its position as a leading integrated logistics provider in the global e-commerce ecosystem.
