At its Technology Day event today, XPeng Motors showcased the HiFly A868, a next-generation flying car developed by its subsidiary XPeng AeroHT. Positioned as a premium model for future mobility, the A868 features full-tilt rotor technology, a breakthrough innovation that allows its rotors or engines to rotate entirely. This enables the vehicle to take off and land vertically like a helicopter while cruising efficiently at high speeds like a fixed-wing aircraft — combining the advantages of both flight modes.
The HiFly A868 is powered by a hybrid system that integrates both fuel and electric power, aiming to strike a balance between long-range capability and strong performance. The hybrid design also enhances convenience in energy replenishment while maintaining environmental sustainability.
According to XPeng, the A868 is designed for a range of over 500 kilometers, giving it the potential to operate intercity routes rather than being limited to short urban hops. With a cruise speed exceeding 360 km/h, the A868 dramatically outperforms ground vehicles, offering a glimpse into a future of fast, flexible air mobility.
