TCL CSOT CEO: The world's first G8.6-generation printed OLED production line will begin production in Q4 next year.

According to media reports, at the 2026 ChinaJoy event, TCL CSOT CEO Zhao Jun publicly clarified for the first time the timeline for the Guangzhou t8 project. This production line, with a total investment of 29.5 billion yuan and the world's only G8.6-generation printed OLED mass-production line, will officially commence production in the fourth quarter of 2027, with a monthly capacity of 22,500 large-size glass substrates (measuring 2290mm x 2620mm). The line was topped out ahead of schedule in May this year, and both yield rate and cost metrics have already met customer mass-production standards. Before the mass-production line comes online, small-batch verification continues to accelerate. TCL CSOT has already partnered with multiple leading PC brands to advance validation of printed OLED panels for laptops and monitors. Terminal devices equipped with these panels are expected to launch and ship as early as within this year. The initial small-scale supply will complete market education, laying the foundation for subsequent capacity release from the G8.6 mass-production line. In the initial phase of t8 line production, products will focus on mainstream mid-size segments such as monitors, laptops, and tablets, with future plans to expand into various high-value-added display scenarios. At the technical level, printed OLED adopts an inkjet direct-printing process, raising material utilization to over 90%, while vacuum equipment usage is only one-tenth of that of the evaporation route. After mass production, comprehensive costs can be reduced by 15%–35%. At the same time, this process achieves standard RGB vertical stripe pixel arrangement, completely resolving the text blur pain point of traditional OLED in office scenarios, precisely meeting the core needs of designers and office workers. Currently, Samsung and LG monopolize IT OLED supply with 6th-generation evaporation lines, leaving domestic panel manufacturers largely confined to niche orders. With the G8.6 printed production line coming online, TCL will build independently controllable, low-cost mid-size OLED capacity, potentially directly breaking the Korean manufacturers' supply monopoly in laptops and high-end monitors.
