PC gamers are the true fans, not following AMD's lead: Intel confirms next-gen CPUs will prioritize desktop platforms.

AMD has officially announced its Zen 6 architecture, but it will debut on the EPYC platform, meaning PC gamers will have to wait a bit longer. In this regard, Intel appears more considerate toward PC gamers, as its next-generation CPU cores are confirmed to arrive on desktops first.
Intel executive Robert Hallock confirmed this during a recent interview with TH, stating that when Intel has a new core, it will first land on desktop versions. He added that enthusiasts should "do the math," and that was all he had to say.
He didn't specify what Intel's so-called new core is, but it's generally believed to refer to the Nova Lake generation of processors. This is Intel's major product lineup slated for late this year or early next year, featuring up to 52 cores and a maximum of 288MB of bLLC cache. The specifications see significant improvements, and performance is expected to be impressive.
On the CPU architecture front, the P-cores will be upgraded to the Coyote Cove core, and the E-cores to Arctic Wolf, both promising notable performance gains. Combined with the 288MB bLLC cache, it's anticipated to reclaim the title of gaming performance king.
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan and several other executives have previously acknowledged that their desktop processors lost their competitive edge, citing reasons such as abandoning SMT hyper-threading and performance falling short of expectations, particularly with the Arrow Lake generation. In short, Intel has realized it made mistakes in CPU competition and needs a comprehensive overhaul.
The Nova Lake generation represents Intel's critical battle in the x86 desktop platform competition, with specifications exceeding expectations and significant IPC improvements expected for both P and E cores.
More importantly, Intel will debut the new architecture on desktop platforms first, unlike AMD's approach of prioritizing the EPYC enterprise platform. This can be seen as a demonstration of their commitment.
