A new species in the Android camp is accelerating its arrival! OPPO's wide flat-screen phone has entered version testing.

According to a blogger's leak, OPPO's wide-form flagship has entered the prototype testing phase, while its small-screen flagship project may have been paused. If this information is accurate, the OPPO wide-form phone could directly replace the small-screen flagship and become the new product direction for the Find series.

In terms of positioning, the OPPO wide-form phone is planned as a top-tier flagship. It will be the first Android phone to adopt a wide-ratio form factor, with a screen size of around 6.4 inches, making its overall design completely different from previous Android devices.

It strikes a good balance between an expansive field of view and comfortable grip, and since it doesn't require the high cost of a folding hinge mechanism, the overall price is relatively lower, making it more accessible to average consumers. Compared to wide-format foldables, it also avoids crease issues, with no risk of screen damage or hinge degradation in daily use, resulting in greater durability.

When working with documents or watching video content, the wide-form phone offers a broader view, improving efficiency for reading multi-column text or browsing web pages. Compared to conventional small-screen bar phones, its display advantage is prominent; compared to wide-format foldables, it sidesteps the drawbacks of higher weight and repair costs.

The wide-form phone finds a more pragmatic balance among large-screen experience, cost, and durability, meeting the needs of users who want a large display without requiring a foldable form factor.

On the hardware front, the OPPO wide-form phone is expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-series or MediaTek Dimensity 9-series flagship platform, with a 200-megapixel main camera on the rear, along with a periscope telephoto lens. Whether in display quality, performance, or imaging capability, it reaches the industry's top tier.

The device is scheduled for official release in the first half of next year, where it will debut alongside the ultra-premium flagship OPPO Find X10 Ultra, and is worth keeping an eye on.
