OPPO supply chain welcomes a major adjustment: introducing Samsung's 200MP sensor to end Sony's dominance.

According to the latest leak, OPPO plans to adopt Samsung's 200-megapixel sensors in its mid-range and flagship phones, completely replacing Sony products.

This decision is mainly driven by OPPO's desire to offer ultra-high-resolution camera solutions across different price segments, and Sony's current product portfolio cannot yet meet this demand, which may signal a major reshuffle in the mobile imaging field.

It is reported that OPPO's move is not driven by budget considerations; the core driving force lies in its product planning to provide 200-megapixel ultra-high-resolution sensors across different price tiers. Since Sony's existing LYTIA product line has not been able to cover a sufficiently diversified range of specifications, OPPO has had to turn to Samsung to fill this gap.

According to information revealed by leaker Tech Home, OPPO is preparing a full-stack hardware replacement, planning to switch multiple popular Sony LYT sensors of different sizes entirely to Samsung products.

In the mid-range market, Sony's 1/1.56-inch LYT-700 will be replaced by Samsung's ISOCELL HP5. At the sub-flagship level, Sony's 1/1.4-inch LYT-808 is expected to be succeeded by Samsung's HPE. In the high-end segment, Sony's 1/1.28-inch LYT-828 will be replaced by Samsung's HPC sensor.

Even top-tier sensor hardware has not escaped this adjustment. Sony's 1/1.12-inch LYT-901 is also on the replacement list, and the industry generally speculates that OPPO will use Samsung's yet-to-be-officially-released HPA sensor for this role. According to reports, in addition to Samsung, OPPO is also actively expanding cooperation with other component manufacturers to obtain more diversified alternative options.

This strategy is similar to Apple's multi-supplier model, with the core focus on diversifying supply chain risks. On the supply side, a diversified layout can effectively avoid supply interruptions caused by unexpected incidents or capacity bottlenecks at a single supplier.

At the same time, this diversified choice also provides a guarantee for the continuous iteration of key technologies, preventing the company from missing out on better solutions due to reliance on a single route, thereby building a solid supply chain moat that keeps products at the industry's leading edge.
