Only 2 nationwide! Geely's Spacetime DoYu secures the "second license" for satellite IoT.

SpaceTime DaoYu officially announced today that it has received approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for a commercial pilot license for satellite IoT services, with a trial period of two years.

During this period, SpaceTime DaoYu may lawfully pilot satellite IoT services, leveraging its fully self-developed low-orbit satellite IoT constellation to provide global users with wide-coverage, low-power, high-reliability IoT connectivity services across fields such as intelligent connected vehicles, construction machinery, marine fisheries, energy and water conservancy, transportation and logistics, and low-altitude mobility, delivering round-the-clock, intelligent satellite IoT services.

Additionally, the company will conduct IoT NTN technology trials, accelerating the R&D and commercialization of 6G satellite communication technologies.

This marks the second satellite IoT commercial pilot license nationwide, following Beijing Guodian Gaoke, and the first in Zhejiang Province, signifying that private enterprises can legally and compliantly "operate with a license" in the space IoT business.

The approval of the satellite IoT commercial pilot not only assesses technical capabilities but also imposes stringent requirements on constellation construction, operational support, safety management, and sustained service capability. Private enterprises without mature telecom operation experience must essentially build an entire system from scratch.

Following the approval, SpaceTime DaoYu's role has formally expanded from "building and launching satellites" to "operating," enabling it to provide global users with wide-coverage, low-power, high-reliability IoT connectivity services based on its self-built Geely constellation.

Satellite IoT refers to low-rate data transmission achieved through satellite communication systems, primarily used for uploading location information and small volumes of sensor-collected data. It cannot be used for video streaming or internet browsing, but it can keep vehicles, vessels, and equipment in ground network blind zones—such as oceans, deserts, and deep mountains—online, serving as an important complement to broadband satellite internet.

SpaceTime DaoYu's technological strength stems from the Geely constellation, which is fully independently designed, developed, built, and operated by the company. Operating at an orbit of approximately 600 kilometers, the first phase plans 72 satellites, with 64 already networked in orbit as of September 2025, achieving real-time communication coverage over any point on the Earth's surface except the polar regions.

It processes approximately 340 million communication requests daily and can support 20 million users globally, ranking second among global commercial satellite IoT constellations in terms of in-orbit satellites.

In terms of application deployment, in the intelligent connected vehicle sector, over 20,000 vehicle-mounted satellite communication terminals have been mass-produced and delivered, with models such as Zeekr and Geely Galaxy already equipped with satellite communication capabilities.

Founded in 2018, SpaceTime DaoYu is a commercial aerospace company strategically invested in by Geely Holding Group, headquartered in Hangzhou and incubated by Geely. The "Geely constellation," the world's first low-orbit constellation integrating communication, navigation, and remote sensing, was developed by SpaceTime DaoYu. In other words, this is the first time a commercial aerospace company with an automaker background has obtained a satellite IoT operation license.
