Touch screen, OLED, M7 chip all in one! Apple is launching a wave of new Mac products.

According to well-known Apple tipster Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing a comprehensive upgrade to its Mac product line, rolling out updated versions of all Mac models from this fall through next year, marking the biggest product refresh for the Mac in nearly five years.

The first to launch will be the new iMac and the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, with development largely complete and expected to hit the market this fall. The entry-level models will feature the M6 chip built on TSMC's 2nm process, but Apple is skipping the M6 Pro and M6 Max to directly target the M7 series.

The most anticipated items on the roadmap are the redesigned high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, codenamed K114 and K116, which will introduce touchscreens for the first time and feature OLED display technology, with the notch replaced by a Dynamic Island.

This marks the first time since the Mac's inception that it supports a touch screen, breaking the philosophy from the Jobs era that "touch screens are not ergonomic." However, the first batch of OLED touchscreen MacBooks will still use M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, while iterative products with M7 Pro and M7 Max chips won't arrive until late 2027 to early 2028.

Early next year, the MacBook Air will get a chip upgrade but retain its current design, with the OLED version expected as late as 2028. On the desktop side, the Mac mini is testing M5 Pro and M6 processors, while the Mac Studio will use M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips.

The surge in AI application demand is driving Mac sales growth for the third consecutive year, but tight supply of storage chips has extended delivery times for some current models to over three months. Cook previously stated that it will take "several months" for supply and demand to return to balance.
