Huawei Mate 80 Series Sales Surpass 8 Million Units: Topping Domestic Flagship Sales Rankings

Data released by blogger RD Observation shows that as of the 30th week of 2026, cumulative sales of the Huawei Mate 80 series have exceeded 8 million units, totaling approximately 8.09 million, successfully reaching a new milestone.
The device was officially released in the fourth quarter of last year. Although it was the latest entrant among domestic iterative flagships in the second half of last year, its sales performance far surpassed products in the same tier, firmly ranking first in domestic flagship sales and demonstrating strong market competitiveness.
The primary reason this generation of Mate 80 series achieved such impressive results is the precise strategy of the standard version being “more value for less money.” In an industry environment where memory chip prices continue to rise and major mainstream brand flagships have collectively raised prices, Huawei chose to go against the trend.
The starting price of the Mate 80 standard version is set at 4,699 yuan, a direct reduction of 800 yuan compared to the previous Mate 70 series’ starting price of 5,499 yuan. This approach of lowering prices while comprehensively upgrading specifications directly maximizes the cost-performance advantage and greatly stimulates consumers’ purchase intention.
Another factor that cannot be ignored is that the Mate 80 standard version, for the first time, fully implements 3D face recognition. Previously, this feature only appeared on Pro and above models in the Mate series, but this time the entire Mate 80 lineup comes standard with 3D face recognition unlock and payment features.
The core experience gap between the standard and Pro versions has been significantly narrowed. Users can enjoy the convenient experience previously available only on top-tier models without spending a higher budget. This move significantly enhances the appeal of the standard version and further drives overall sales.
It is this “more value for less money” pricing strategy, combined with the downmarket deployment of flagship features like 3D face recognition, that brings the Mate 80’s overall experience fully in line with the Pro version. With sincere configuration upgrades and highly competitive pricing, the Huawei Mate 80 series quickly topped various sales charts, staging a spectacular return of the king in the fiercely competitive high-end smartphone market.
