No wonder Japanese people are breaking down! BYD's pure electric K-Car has exceeded 5,000 locked orders in the first week of pre-sale.

BYD's pure electric K-Car, the Otter RACCO, officially opened for pre-sales, and the number of locked deposits exceeded 5,000 units in the first week!
Earlier, during its debut at this year's Tokyo Motor Show, the Otter prototype had already received 30,000 expressions of interest.
This car is BYD's first special model tailored to Japan's light vehicle regulations, with a starting price of 2.145 million yen (approximately 88,700 RMB), and an even lower threshold after subsidies.
Dimensions strictly adhere to Japan's K-Car standards, equipped with dual electric sliding doors, offering two range versions of 210km and 320km. The range parameters are comprehensively superior to local competitors like Nissan Sakura, which is the core reason for the car's hot sales.
It is worth mentioning that to fit the local market and reduce Japanese consumers' sense of distance from the Chinese brand, BYD invited high-profile Japanese actress Alice Hirose to be the exclusive代言人 for this car. This is also the first time Alice Hirose has filmed a car advertisement in her career.
The ad uses bright yellow as the background color. Alice Hirose appears in a bright red suit, paired with an otter plush toy and home commuting scenes. Throughout, it simply shows the vehicle's space and practicality, deliberately downplaying the brand's national attributes.
Even so, after the ad went live, it sparked dissatisfaction among many conservative Japanese netizens. Many even launched cyberbullying against Alice Hirose, directly labeling her as "unpatriotic," "money-grubbing and fawning to foreign countries," and "betraying the domestic manufacturing industry."
Some extreme netizens deliberately magnified the details of the red suit in the ad, forcibly associating red with Chinese symbols, claiming she deliberately chose that color to shoot the ad, implying a stance tendency. They escalated ordinary commercial styling into a criticism of her position, further intensifying negative public opinion.
As the Otter continues to sell well, more Japanese people will inevitably break down, but this is just a minor episode in China's new energy vehicles going global, utterly insignificant!
