Investing 7 billion! Shangjie executives: SAIC Group is all in on Shangjie, with an additional 1 billion investment this year.

At the 2026 Chengdu International Auto Show, Shangjie Automobile General Manager Zhu Yong revealed that SAIC Group is fully "All in" on the Shangjie brand, having deployed a dedicated team of 5,000 people with an investment of 6 billion yuan. This year, an additional 1 billion yuan was added, primarily for the construction of the Shanghai Pudong Jinqiao plant, bringing total investment to 7 billion yuan, with further investments to follow.
Zhu Yong stated that the cooperation between SAIC and Huawei is a strategic, long-term partnership, with Shangjie rooted in full-ecosystem innovation. SAIC has assembled a professional operations and technical team of over 5,000 people for the Shangjie project, working in deep collaboration with Huawei engineers across the entire ecosystem chain, covering product definition, design, smart cabin and autonomous driving, manufacturing, and sales services.
The Jinqiao plant is built to Industry 4.0 standards, applying AI technology to enhance product value, with intelligent processes such as AI adhesive application deployed, representing SAIC Group's full support for the Shangjie brand.
Zhu Yong believes that Shangjie, backed by the two pillars of SAIC and Huawei, has confidence that other brands lack. SAIC has 70 years of automotive manufacturing heritage and over 100 million users, earning trust from both domestic and overseas consumers. Huawei has also performed well in the intelligent technology arena in recent years. In a highly competitive market environment, brands backed by major corporations have a greater advantage.
"It is precisely because of Huawei's leading intelligent technology, combined with SAIC's 70 years of experience in R&D and vehicle manufacturing, that we have the confidence to tell users we are bringing them better products."
Shangjie is a new automotive brand jointly launched by SAIC Group and Huawei, adopting Huawei's Smart Selection model and belonging to the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance ecosystem, known as the "Fifth Realm." Shangjie has initially completed its product matrix, with three models on sale—H5, Z7, and Z7T—covering mainstream new energy vehicle segments.
Among them, the Shangjie H5 officially launched as the brand's first model, positioned as a mid-size SUV with a wheelbase of 2,840mm and a price range of 159,800 to 199,800 yuan.
It is equipped with Huawei Qiankun ADS 4 assisted driving system and HarmonyOS cockpit, offering six versions across extended-range and pure electric powertrains. The extended-range version has CLTC pure electric ranges of 245km and 333km, while the pure electric version offers up to 640km of range. Within 78 days of launch, cumulative deliveries exceeded 20,000 units. The 2026 H5 was refreshed and launched with prices ranging from 169,800 to 209,800 yuan.
