Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design tri-fold officially announced! Yu Chengdong: The thinnest and largest foldable phone in the industry.

Huawei has unveiled a teaser video for its new triple-folding phone, the Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design, which will be officially released on September 7. Following the announcement, Richard Yu, Huawei's Executive Director, Chairman of the Product Investment Review Committee, and Chairman of Terminal BG, shared details about the new device.
Yu noted that the announcement of the new triple-folding phone has generated significant attention, with many netizens discussing its innovative form factor.
Two years ago, Huawei launched the Mate XT Ultimate Design, introducing the pioneering Tian Gong hinge system. Through dual-track linkage, it enabled both inward and outward folding of an ultra-thin flexible large screen, becoming the world's first commercially available triple-folding phone.
As the pinnacle of folding phone architecture innovation and technical craftsmanship, the new Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design further refines the folding architecture with a brand-new "spread-wing triple-fold" form. The device unfolds outward from both left and right sides, making it more intuitive and user-friendly to handle.
Additionally, the new device adopts a central-axis symmetrical design, ensuring a more balanced weight distribution across the body and a more comfortable grip when unfolded.
According to the introduction, the Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design houses both inner and outer screens within an ultra-thin 3.5mm body for the first time. When fully unfolded, it remains the industry's thinnest and largest folding screen phone. Yu stated that this achievement stems from the team's relentless pursuit of refined overall architecture design and component miniaturization.
Beyond the form factor changes, the new device also features comprehensive reliability upgrades, including a stronger outer screen, a more durable inner screen, and a more precise hinge system, further enhancing drop and impact resistance.
In terms of performance, earlier reports suggested that the Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design might debut with the Kirin 9050 chip. However, the latest information indicates that the new device will still be powered by the Kirin 9030S.
