Global limited to 150 units! Aston Martin unveils new supercar Valen: V12 engine delivers 850 horsepower

Aston Martin officially unveiled its new supercar, Valen, at Monterey Car Week.

The new car was co-developed by the Q customization division and the newly established Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) department. It is the most powerful front-engine V12 supercar in the brand's 113-year history and currently the most powerful front-engine production car in the world, limited to just 150 units globally, with first deliveries scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.

According to the introduction, the name "Valen" derives from the Latin word "valens," meaning "strong" and "powerful," continuing the brand's tradition of naming models with the letter "V." Previous special models in this series include Valour, Valiant, and DBR22.

The exterior was designed by the brand's design director, Marek Reichman. Deep-set slim headlights are hidden beneath the leading edge of the swooping hood, the geometric mesh grille features sharp angles, and the hood is fitted with vents, giving it a distinctly supercar look.

At the rear, the traditional rear windshield has been eliminated, replaced by a one-piece carbon fiber tailgate with integrated aerodynamic fins. Opening it reveals a 170-liter luggage compartment, with an optional travel package featuring a custom protective cover.

The interior follows a visual lightweight philosophy, with a slim center console heavily utilizing 3D-printed components. The control button cluster is inherited from the flagship supercar Valhalla, and the center touchscreen is angled toward the driver.

The powertrain is also a major highlight. In an era when electrification is sweeping the supercar world, Valen goes against the trend: its 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 is completely unassisted by electric power, with maximum output increased from the Vanquish's 835 horsepower to 850 horsepower, delivering a peak torque of 1000 N·m at just 2,500 rpm.

It is paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, a carbon fiber driveshaft, and an electronic limited-slip differential. The transmission shift strategy is directly derived from the Vantage GT4 racing program.

0-60 mph acceleration takes just 3.0 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 344 km/h. Three driving modes—Sport, Sport+, and Track—make it suitable for both road and track use.

The full carbon fiber body, combined with racing materials such as aluminum, titanium, and magnesium, allows Valen to shed up to 110 kg compared to the brand's core V12 platform, with the carbon fiber body panels alone contributing 25 kg of weight savings.

An optional lightweight package can shave off an additional 16.9 kg, including one-piece forged aluminum suspension arms, steering knuckles, and titanium chassis bolts.

In terms of chassis, the car features a rigid fixed rear subframe, model-specific springs, and Bilstein DTX semi-active dampers. The new titanium quad-exit exhaust adopts a stacked vertical layout, with the upper two outlets always open and the lower two opening and closing depending on driving mode. The exhaust note has been tuned like an "organ pipe," making high-rev resonance more resonant and piercing.

In terms of competitors, Valen's only direct rival is the Ferrari 12Cilindri, which also insists on a pure gasoline V12—its 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 delivers 830 horsepower and 678 N·m of torque.

Aston Martin has not yet announced pricing, though rumors suggest a starting price of around $2 million. In an era when most rivals rely on electric motors to "pad their numbers," Aston Martin has chosen to go head-to-head with displacement and lightweight construction. This car stands as another monument to the closing era of pure gasoline V12s.
