Domestic memory is booming! ChangXin DDR5 chip performance tested: less than 1% gap from SK Hynix's flagship.

According to the latest test by Bilibili UP主 Cheese Wallace, domestically produced ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) memory chips have achieved stable operation at DDR5-8000 speeds, with performance in certain productivity and gaming tests closely matching that of SK Hynix's flagship M-die solution.

The test platform used an Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus processor, paired with an MSI Z890M GAMING PLUS WIFI motherboard, a Colorful GeForce RTX 5080 Ultra WOC graphics card, and a 1200W high-power power supply.

The memory modules compared were the Lexar THOR RGB (stock spec 7200MT/s CL38) using CXMT chips and the Gloway Shenwu (stock spec 6800MT/s CL34) using SK Hynix chips, both overclocked to 8000MT/s for the comparison.

After boosting to 8000MT/s, the CXMT configuration achieved timings of CL40-52-52-128, while the SK Hynix configuration used tighter timings of CL36-48-48-96.

Benchmark results showed that at 8000MT/s, the CXMT memory delivered a read bandwidth of approximately 123.32GB/s with 76.1ns latency, while the SK Hynix solution achieved approximately 124.68GB/s read bandwidth with 72.2ns latency.

Both solutions performed at essentially the same bandwidth level, with SK Hynix taking the lead in memory latency thanks to its tighter timings.

In Geekbench 6 testing, the CXMT 8000MT/s configuration scored 24,576 points, compared to 24,790 for the SK Hynix solution at the same frequency—a difference of only about 0.86%.

In gaming performance at 1080P resolution, in "Rainbow Six Siege X," the average frame rates of the two 8000MT/s memory kits differed by only 5 frames, a gap of less than 1%. In "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Remake," both kits delivered nearly identical frame rates.

Additionally, in major titles such as "Call of Duty 21" and "Forza Horizon 5," the frame rates of the two high-frequency configurations were almost exactly the same, with a difference of less than 1 FPS.
