Domestic memory enters the global first tier! ChangXin's LPDDR6 chips sent for sample validation: 12800Mbps speed matches Samsung

Changxin Technology announced today that its self-developed LPDDR6 chip has been sent to key customers for validation, accelerating progress toward mass production. The chip achieves a peak data rate of 12800Mbps and a maximum capacity of 16GB per chip.

In terms of design specifications, Changxin's first LPDDR6 product is designed for a data rate of 12.8Gbps, with a base rate of 10.667Gbps when operating in tandem with the SoC, and adopts a 1295-ball POP stacking package.

What does the 12800Mbps peak rate mean? Samsung's LPDDR6 prototype, unveiled in 2025, also hits 12.8Gbps. In other words, on the core metric of peak data rate, Changxin and Samsung now stand on equal footing.

Additionally, Changxin's LPDDR6 shows notable improvements over its LPDDR5X products in low-power design and RAS (Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability) features. Bandwidth performance is approximately 20% higher than the previous LPDDR5X generation.

In March of this year, Changxin had already sent LPDDR6 samples to core customers. By early August, nearing the end of R&D validation, it entered the risk production phase. Previously, domestic memory manufacturers typically lagged behind international giants by more than six months in adopting advanced standards; Changxin has now compressed this gap to within two months.

It should be noted that Samsung's move was a "public demonstration," while Changxin's is "sample validation" — these represent different progress milestones. However, all three manufacturers have set their mass production targets for the second half of 2026.

On the timeline for mass production, Changxin's gap with Samsung and SK Hynix is even smaller, with some industry analysts suggesting that Changxin could become the world's first manufacturer to bring LPDDR6 to market.
