At the Loongson 25th Anniversary Conference, Hu Weiwu stated that the 3B6600, using a 1Xnm process, matches the performance of Intel/AMD's 7nm chips!

At the Loongson 25th Anniversary Conference held today, Hu Weiwu, Chairman of Loongson Technology, stated in his speech that based on self-developed IP and independent manufacturing processes, Loongson CPU performance has reached the level of mainstream market products.
The Loongson 3B6600 processor, which has been delivered for tape-out, uses a highly independent 1Xnm process, and its measured performance matches that of mainstream X86 CPUs manufactured with 7nm or more advanced processes.
This means that Loongson, using self-developed IP and independent processes, has compensated for the gap in manufacturing technology through architectural design despite being significantly behind in process nodes, achieving performance parity.
The Loongson 3B6600 is not an isolated achievement. Hu Weiwu also mentioned that Loongson has designed a general-purpose GPU core with computing density comparable to NVIDIA's, and has systematically resolved the peripheral compatibility issues that have plagued Linux desktops for decades, as well as compatibility issues with Windows browsers.
Looking at the performance evolution roadmap, Loongson's single-core performance has undergone a lengthy catch-up process. Hu Weiwu revealed in his speech that from 3A1000 to 3A6000, Loongson spent ten years focusing solely on quad-core designs, increasing the clock speed from 1.0GHz to 2.5GHz, and raising the SPEC CPU2006 fixed-point single-core measured performance from 2.5 points to 50 points.
After completing the single-core performance catch-up with the quad-core 3A6000, Loongson launched the 3C6000 series server CPUs with 16-core, 32-core, and 64-core configurations in less than two years.
Due to improved cost-effectiveness of Loongson CPU products and a more mature software ecosystem, Loongson Technology's revenue entered a new growth cycle in 2025. Full-year sales revenue reached 635 million yuan, a 26% increase from 504 million yuan in 2024; gross profit was 299 million yuan, up 91% year-over-year, with gross margin rising from 31% to 47%.
Hu Weiwu stated that the primary contradiction in Loongson's development has shifted from product R&D to market sales. The period from 2025 to 2027 is a three-year market transition phase, with the core direction being a shift from policy-driven markets to open markets.
