Sony FX5 Cinema Camera Costs 32,000 Yuan per Unit, First Batch Delivered: Yingshi Jufeng Buys 8 Units

Sony Imaging officially announced that the first batch of orders for the new full-frame cinema camera FX5 has started delivery, with the Film Hurricane team becoming the first creative organization in China to receive the new camera, purchasing 8 units at once.

The camera was officially released on July 22, with a domestic single-body price of 32,000 yuan and a kit price of 36,000 yuan including the XLR audio handle.

The FX5 is positioned between the FX3 and FX6 models, with a body weight of 750g and a compact size, making it convenient for both single-handed handheld shooting and gimbal mounting.

The camera is specifically designed for short video studios, advertising teams, and independent creators. The entire unit completely removes still photography functions, with all hardware configurations optimized for video shooting.

It features a 16.6-megapixel full-frame stacked sensor paired with the next-generation BIONZ XR2 image processor, inheriting the same AI autofocus as the A7R VI, with faster subject and object tracking recognition.

This camera is the first in its class to support Open Gate full-sensor recording, capturing the complete sensor readout at 5K 3:2 aspect ratio, allowing lossless cropping for vertical or widescreen compositions in post, with ample adjustment room when working with anamorphic lenses.

The image quality specs are highly competitive, supporting direct in-body recording of 16-bit X-OCN RAW format without the need for an external recorder to obtain high-latitude footage. The camera offers 16 stops of dynamic range, preserving complete detail in both shadow and highlight areas.

It supports up to 5K60fps and 4K120fps shooting, with 240fps slow motion available at HD resolution. Future firmware updates will further raise the 5K frame rate ceiling.

Stabilization capability is a major highlight of this camera, featuring an upgraded 5-axis optical image stabilization with a rotational shake compensation range doubled compared to the previous generation, achieving up to 8.5 stops of stabilization.

A new Dynamic Active Stabilization mode has been added, allowing stable handheld walking shots and outdoor follow shots without additional stabilization equipment.

The body includes a full set of professional monitoring tools such as false color, waveform monitor, and focus peaking, making on-site exposure adjustments more intuitive.
