Samsung's new 200MP sensor HPC unveiled: 1/1.3-inch large sensor, native 16-bit RAW output support

Samsung officially launched its new ISOCELL HPC image sensor today. The sensor features 200MP resolution with a 1/1.3-inch optical format, natively supports 16-bit RAW output, and debuts the DeepPix architecture for a broader dynamic range.
In terms of core specifications, the Samsung ISOCELL HPC offers ultra-high 200MP resolution and a large 1/1.3-inch format, with a pixel size of 0.6μm, using a Tetra²pixel RGB Bayer color filter array.
The sensor can flexibly output images at different resolutions depending on the lighting environment. In bright conditions, it can output ultra-high-resolution 200MP images; in medium-light conditions, it can bin pixels at 1.2μm to output 50MP images; and in low-light environments, it uses 2.4μm pixel binning to output 12.5MP images — dynamically increasing light intake and effectively improving detail reproduction.
In addition, the Samsung ISOCELL HPC employs High-P high-precision microlens technology. Using high-refractive-index microlenses, it focuses light more precisely onto the underlying photodiodes, significantly reducing edge image quality loss. Meanwhile, the High-T high-transmittance anti-reflective layer uses a new anti-reflection coating to effectively suppress light reflection and scattering inside the component, ensuring accurate color output even in complex lighting and extreme environments.
At the architecture level, the Samsung ISOCELL HPC is equipped with FDTI technology and upgraded to the debut DeepPix architecture. This approach is similar in principle to LOFIC technology, but instead of using external capacitors, Samsung directly increases the full-well capacity of a single pixel by 60%, resulting in a wider dynamic range and significantly suppressing highlight overflow.
In terms of dynamic range and color performance, the Samsung ISOCELL HPC natively supports single-frame 16-bit HDR, delivering up to four times the color gradation of traditional HDR. In demanding scenes with high contrast and strong backlighting, it effectively improves highlight suppression and shadow recovery. The sensor also supports 16-bit RAW capture, providing greater latitude for post-production creativity.
In terms of zoom capability, the Samsung ISOCELL HPC offers lossless zoom from 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x to 4x. It also breaks the previous limitation where image sensors could only enable high-end HDR at specific focal lengths, maintaining consistent high-quality single-frame HDR performance across all zoom levels to ensure uncompromised image quality.
For autofocus, the Samsung ISOCELL HPC supports Super QPD full-pixel phase-detection autofocus. It can shoot high-quality slow-motion video at 120fps in 4K resolution, and supports up to 4K 180fps slow-motion recording, giving users greater creative flexibility.
