Huawei to Launch Ascend 950 AI Chip and HarmonyOS in South Korea Next Year

According to Huawei Korea, the company plans to introduce its self-developed Ascend 950 AI chip and HarmonyOS operating system in South Korea in 2026. Huawei emphasized that its strategy in the Korean market goes beyond hardware—it aims to deliver an end-to-end (E2E) full-stack solution encompassing hardware, software, networking, and storage, offering South Korean enterprises a viable alternative to NVIDIA.

Unlike competitors that sell individual chips, Huawei will offer its AI solutions in cluster-based configurations, not as standalone chips.

Balian Wang, CEO of Huawei Korea, stated, “Our strategy is not limited to providing AI accelerator cards or servers. We aim to accelerate real-world industry applications through integrated solutions.”

In addition, Huawei Korea plans next year to supply its self-developed, open-source operating system—HarmonyOS—to domestic Korean enterprises to foster a broader ecosystem. “HarmonyOS is not only suitable for smartphones but can also power a wide range of smart home devices,” the executive noted. However, he clarified that Huawei currently has no plans to launch smartphones in the South Korean market next year.
