Xiaomi's self-developed Xuanjie chip is about to be released: putting some pressure on Apple.

Xiaomi Group partner and Group President Lu Weibing revealed during the Q2 2026 earnings call that cumulative shipments of the Xuanjie O1 have surpassed one million units. More notably, a brand-new generation of Xiaomi's Xuanjie chip is about to be released.
This once again proves that Xiaomi is transforming its in-house chip efforts from a one-time technological breakthrough into a truly sustainable product roadmap capable of continuous iteration.
Xuanjie O1: Xiaomi's First Answer Sheet
In May 2025, Xiaomi officially launched the Xuanjie O1. This is Xiaomi's first flagship-grade 3nm mobile SoC, built on TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, integrating approximately 19 billion transistors into a chip area of about 109 square millimeters. With this chip, Xiaomi became the fourth company globally—after Apple, Qualcomm, and MediaTek—to release an in-house 3nm mobile processor.
More importantly, the Xuanjie O1 did not stop at a "spec showcase" during the launch event. It actually entered mass-produced devices, being used in the Xiaomi 15S Pro, Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro, and other products, allowing the in-house chip to face real consumer market validation.
Looking at the results, the Xuanjie O1 proves that Xiaomi already possesses a complete set of capabilities—from chip architecture and system design to mass-production terminal adaptation. Now, the Xuanjie O1 has completed validation with cumulative shipments exceeding one million units. Lu Weibing's public disclosure of this figure also signals that Xiaomi has established a certain product and supply chain foundation for the next phase of Xuanjie chip development.
The truly difficult part of developing an in-house SoC has never been just designing the chip—it's ensuring stable mass production while solving a series of issues related to power consumption, thermal management, communications, imaging, AI, system scheduling, and software-hardware ecosystem integration. The Xuanjie O1 completing million-level terminal validation is itself a significant proof of capability.
What Will the Next Xuanjie Bring?
Currently, Xiaomi has only officially confirmed that "a new-generation Xuanjie chip is about to be released," without disclosing full specifications. However, recent leaks suggest the new Xuanjie may be named the Xuanjie O3 and is expected to adopt TSMC's 3nm process.
The engineering version is rumored to feature a "prime core + performance core + efficiency core" design, with the prime core potentially reaching 4.05GHz, performance cores around 3.42GHz, efficiency cores around 3.02GHz, and a GPU frequency potentially reaching 1.49GHz.
If these specifications hold up, the Xuanjie O3 would already be able to approach the core competitive range of top-tier mobile SoCs from Apple and Qualcomm. There are also reports suggesting the new chip may debut in Xiaomi's next-generation foldable flagship, which would mean the Xuanjie chip already has the strength to shoulder the core experience of high-end flagships.
It's worth noting that the Xuanjie series isn't limited to phones and tablets. The Xuanjie T1, unveiled at Xiaomi's 15th anniversary strategic product launch event, is designed for smart wearable devices, integrating an in-house 4G baseband and supporting standalone 4G eSIM communication.
This means "Xuanjie" is not just the name of Xiaomi's phone chip—it is gradually becoming the underlying technology platform across Xiaomi's smart hardware ecosystem.
As AI phones, AI tablets, smart vehicles, and various smart terminals continue to evolve, the importance of in-house SoCs will only grow.
For the future Xiaomi, if the Xuanjie chip can be further integrated with HyperOS, AI large models, imaging algorithms, and self-developed hardware, then the value the chip brings won't just be benchmark improvements—it can directly participate in defining the entire product experience, building a more complete technological moat.
The Xuanjie O1 achieving million-level shipments is the report card for the first phase; the next-generation Xuanjie chip will determine whether Xiaomi can truly grow into a long-term flagship SoC competitor. In September, Xiaomi will enter a密集 period of new product launches. Lu Weibing has already confirmed that the new-generation Xuanjie chip is about to make its debut.
Against the backdrop of increasingly fierce global technology competition, mastering core chip technology means autonomous control over a company's critical technology path. Xiaomi's continued advancement of its chip self-development strategy not only strengthens supply chain resilience but also provides solid technological support for long-term sustainable development.
