T-Head's Zhenwu M890 chip accelerates commercialization! 650 external customers already on board: covering 20+ industries

Alibaba announced today that its chip subsidiary T-Head has built a self-developed chip portfolio covering GPUs, CPUs, storage, and network chips.

Among them, the latest-generation AI processor Zhenwu M890, delivered through Alibaba Cloud services, has achieved broad commercial adoption across more than 650 external customers in over 20 industries, including autonomous driving, internet, and financial services, validating its ability to support the full AI workload pipeline from training and fine-tuning to inference.

The Zhenwu M890 made its debut at the Alibaba Cloud Summit. The chip employs T-Head's self-developed parallel computing architecture, features 144GB of HBM high-bandwidth memory, and delivers 800GB/s inter-chip interconnect bandwidth, with overall performance three times that of its predecessor, the Zhenwu 810E.

The chip natively supports multiple data precisions from FP32 to FP4, covering full-scenario use cases including high-precision training, low-precision inference, and ultra-low-precision inference. Paired with the self-developed ICN Switch 1.0 interconnect chip, it enables full-bandwidth connectivity across 64 cards, significantly improving the computational efficiency and stability of large-scale AI computing clusters.

During the Alibaba Cloud Summit in May, Gao Hui, Vice President of T-Head Semiconductor, disclosed that cumulative shipments of the Zhenwu series chips had reached 560,000 units as of April 2026, serving more than 400 customers including China Telecom. This latest announcement updates the customer count to over 650, reflecting the rapid pace of commercial expansion for Zhenwu chips within just a few months.

In the financial industry, Zhenwu chip deployments have surpassed 100,000 cards, covering more than 150 mainstream institutions across banking, securities, insurance, and funds, and are applied to core scenarios such as wealth management, credit risk control, investment research and advisory, application identification, and compliance monitoring.
