SK Hynix finalizes mass production of LPDDR6 in the second half of the year: built with 6th generation 10nm-class process, speed surges 33%

according to media sources, SK Hynix plans to officially commence mass production and shipment of its next-generation low-power mobile DRAM product, LPDDR6, in the second half of 2026. The product completed development in March, and preparations for mass production are steadily progressing.

As SK Hynix's latest achievement in the mobile storage field, LPDDR6 is manufactured using the sixth-generation 10nm-class (1c) process, achieving significant breakthroughs in both data processing speed and power consumption control.

In terms of performance, LPDDR6 operates at speeds up to 10.7Gbps, representing an approximately 33% improvement over the previous-generation LPDDR5X product. This leap is mainly attributed to simultaneous increases in bandwidth expansion and data transfer volume per unit time, providing ample bandwidth support for scenarios such as high-frame-rate gaming, multitasking, and AI applications.

Power consumption control is also a key focus of this upgrade. By introducing a sub-channel structure and DVFS (Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling) technology, SK Hynix has reduced overall power consumption by more than 20% compared to the previous generation.

Specifically, the sub-channel structure intelligently identifies and activates only necessary data paths, avoiding unnecessary power consumption; the DVFS technology dynamically adjusts voltage and frequency based on actual load—automatically increasing levels to unleash maximum bandwidth during heavy-load scenarios such as high-performance gaming, and actively reducing frequency and voltage during light daily usage, thereby achieving a flexible balance between performance and battery life.
