Huawei Mate XT2 debuts U-shaped triple folding: crease + durability usher in exponential improvement

Huawei's new generation tri-fold Mate XT2 Ultimate Design will be released in September, which is almost certain. Blogger Dingjiao Digital revealed that the crease control and durability of the Mate XT2 will see exponential improvement. However, whether the device will be released separately from the Mate 90 series is still not clear, and we still need to wait for further official news.
According to existing leaks, the biggest change in the Huawei Mate XT2 is the complete abandonment of the previous generation's S-shaped “memorial-style” folding solution, and instead adopting the industry's first U-shaped tri-fold screen structure. The core principle of U-shaped folding is that the left and right screens of the body can be folded inward simultaneously, completely wrapping the entire main display inside the body.
In the daily closed state, the flexible screen is hidden inside the body at all times, completely eliminating the risk of exposure and effectively avoiding the possibility of screen damage due to accidental contact. This design thoroughly solves the pain point of the outer screen being exposed for a long time and easily scratched by hard objects. The drop resistance and scratch resistance have achieved a leapfrog improvement, and the overall durability is greatly enhanced.
In addition, combined with Huawei's self-developed precision hinge and new flexible laminated materials, U-shaped folding not only effectively reduces the impact of multiple creases on the visual experience, but also finds a perfect balance between flat unfolding and sturdy storage, once again refreshing the form limit of tri-fold screen phones.
More importantly, the Mate XT2 integrates an independent external screen on the back of the body, supporting high-frequency operations such as making calls, quick reply messages, and QR code payment, daily light tasks can be easily completed without unfolding the large screen, significantly improving convenience.
In terms of size, the internal screen is expected to continue the 10.2-inch plan, with the refresh rate upgraded to 120Hz, making sliding and control experience smoother. The screen material is also upgraded to UFG ultra-flexible glass, with significantly improved light transmittance and touch response, while the visibility of creases is effectively reduced.
In terms of hardware configuration, the device will debut with the Taoding law Kirin chip, which is expected to be named the Kirin 9050 series, and its performance is worth looking forward to. It will be pre-installed with the new generation Hongmeng operating system, and the deep collaboration of software and hardware will further unleash the potential of the whole machine.
