Built-in 16 top-tier GPUs! NVIDIA rents wall-mounted computing centers: free installation and dividend sharing

Nvidia plans to install top-tier computing equipment valued at over $250,000 for free on the exterior walls of residential homes, directly transforming ordinary houses into micro AI data centers. The company has already launched a distributed computing pilot project called XFRA in select communities.
The core of the project involves providing selected households with a wall-mounted computing module at no cost. This module integrates 16 of the latest Blackwell architecture GPUs and 4 server processors, with the entire hardware package valued at over $250,000 (approximately 1.785 million RMB).
In terms of hardware design, the computing module is comparable in size to a standard home air conditioning outdoor unit, but its internal structure is extremely complex. To manage the massive heat generated by 16 top-tier GPUs during operation, the system is equipped with a dedicated liquid cooling mechanism.
Homeowners are not required to pay any upfront costs to have this million-yuan computing node installed on their exterior walls.
Furthermore, Nvidia and its partners have committed to substantially subsidizing participants' electricity and internet bills. The computing revenue generated by these wall-mounted modules during operation will also be shared with homeowners according to a yet-to-be-disclosed ratio.
In simple terms, this is equivalent to Nvidia renting your wall and power system to run AI tasks, and paying rent for it.
Currently, the pilot project is limited to approximately 100 households, mostly concentrated in newly built smart communities. If commercial viability is proven, these wall-mounted computing modules could become standard fixtures in more residences, much like solar panels.
However, the widespread adoption of distributed computing still faces numerous uncertainties. Although the system is designed to operate during nighttime off-peak electricity hours or in conjunction with surplus solar power, whether household electrical circuits can withstand the instantaneous peak power consumption of 16 Blackwell GPUs remains unknown.
