Apple's next-generation MacBook Pro expands GPU scale further, with memory bandwidth surging to 200GB/s.

Apple's next-generation entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro specs have leaked. According to the latest report from AppleInsider, the new model, codenamed J804, will feature the all-new M6 standard chip, with core upgrades focused on significant improvements in graphics processing power and memory bandwidth.
In terms of core architecture, the M6 standard chip is expected to come with a 12-core GPU, a notable boost from the 10-core configuration of the current M5 standard chip. This spec upgrade suggests the new machine will offer greater computational headroom for on-device AI inference tasks and high-intensity graphics rendering.
To match the GPU expansion, Apple has increased the M6's memory bandwidth from 153GB/s to 200GB/s, a figure approaching the levels of some previous higher-tier chips.
In practical terms, this means users editing ultra-high-definition video or running large professional software will see a further reduced likelihood of system freezes or lag. Combined with the standard 16GB starting memory, the M6 chip's overall performance is worth anticipating.
To manage the heat generated by the M6 chip under heavy loads, Apple plans to introduce a new vapor chamber cooling solution. Unlike the existing heat pipe design, the vapor chamber will cover not only the M6 chip core but also extend across the entire motherboard area.
This large-surface heat exchange design can significantly reduce internal heat buildup, ensuring the processor maintains higher clock speeds during extended operation.
In terms of design and ports, this entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro will retain the existing chassis design. The display remains a Mini LED panel with ProMotion adaptive refresh rate technology, and the current 6-speaker system is preserved.
The port layout also remains unchanged, aiming to reduce R&D costs through a mature platform approach and focus upgrade efforts on internal performance.
The product is currently expected to launch between late 2026 and early 2027.
