A survey shows 75% of Americans are not interested in a foldable iPhone: on average, they would only pay $781.

According to media reports, an online survey conducted by CNET through YouGov from August 13 to 17 shows that 75% of American adults expressed no interest in purchasing a foldable iPhone.
The survey covered 2,605 American adults in total. It found that interest in a foldable iPhone is low across all age groups.
Among Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964), 83% said they had no interest; among Generation X (born 1965-1980), that figure was 77%.
Among Generation Z (born 1997-2012), 69% said they would not buy a foldable iPhone; among Millennials (born 1981-1996), the figure was 68%.
Overall, roughly a quarter of respondents remain interested in the product, which still represents a meaningful segment for foldable phones, a category that remains a niche market.
Price is also a factor for potential consumers. The survey showed that American adults are willing to pay an average of $781 (approximately 5,262 yuan) for a foldable iPhone—even less than the starting price of $799 (approximately 5,383 yuan) for the standard iPhone 17.
Acceptable prices vary by age group. Generation Z is willing to pay an average of $919 (approximately 6,191 yuan), Millennials $859 (approximately 5,787 yuan), Generation X $690 (approximately 4,649 yuan), and Baby Boomers $572 (approximately 3,854 yuan).
In contrast, multiple reports currently predict that Apple's first foldable iPhone will be priced above $2,000 (approximately 13,474 yuan).
Cook previously stated that the company has raised prices on some products due to significant increases in memory prices. Apple increased prices on Mac, iPad, and other products, but iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods were not adjusted.
