Apple's first smart glasses to be released in June next year: No screen! Similar to Meta, Huawei

according to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release its first smart glasses at the WWDC developer conference in June 2027, with the product officially launching for consumers in the second half of 2027. Privacy and security are the core selling points of this product.

Apple is currently developing multiple new software and hardware privacy protection features. These solutions have not yet been applied to similar smart glasses on the market. Future promotional efforts will focus on comparing with Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses to highlight its own privacy advantages.

The general public is currently widely concerned that smart glasses with cameras might secretly record images of others in public places. Apple has created multiple prototypes to address this concern: one type is equipped with a camera used only for AI assistance and cannot take photos or videos, while the other type completely removes the camera module.

After comprehensive evaluation, the final mass-produced model is likely to retain the camera but will come with Apple's signature full suite of privacy protection mechanisms.

These glasses are positioned as a "lightweight smart wearable accessory" within the Apple ecosystem. They do not have independent computing capabilities and rely on the iPhone for some task processing, similar to the synergy logic between the Apple Watch and the iPhone.

There is no display screen. The overall plan is similar to products from Meta, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc. It is equipped with a camera, microphone, and speaker. The functions should be similar to previous products, supporting music playback, answering calls, and connecting to Siri for various message notifications. It is also expected to provide intelligent support such as large models through the new version of Siri.

Based on a custom Apple Watch S-series chip, it prioritizes energy efficiency. The core role is to control multiple cameras and handle basic AI tasks, avoiding high power consumption that could lead to battery life shortcomings.
